RIG RIOT / FIELD NOTE

RIG Riot Beginner Guide

Start with app identity, movement, objectives, stats and build layers in the right order.

Updated for the September 2026 launch window. Start with app identity, then learn one combat layer at a time. This guide separates confirmed demo facts from full-game data that still needs live verification.

First check which app you opened

The free demo is Steam App 3992510. The full game uses Steam App 3180340 and is in the September 14, 2026 launch window. If a clip, comment or guide describes a route that is not in your copy, first confirm whether it came from the demo or the full-game listing.

The demo is useful for learning the first stage, movement, early objectives and the six advertised RIG part sets. It does not establish the final number of stages, leg types, major encounters, secrets or balance values.

Learn the controls before chasing a build

Begin in a low-pressure area and test Dash, Turbo Boost, Wall Kick and aerial movement separately. These tools make later build choices easier to judge because a weak route can feel like a weak weapon when the real issue is movement timing.

If aiming or target switching feels wrong, check the current in-game settings before assuming a bug. The January 29 demo update documented Manual Aim, reticle opacity and target-switch behavior, but the current game screen is still the best source for exact setting names and bindings.

Treat the first raid as a loop

The confirmed raid loop is to enter the Megastructure, complete objectives, continue forward, upgrade the RIG and repeat as resistance increases. Use the active objective as the immediate task instead of searching for a complete final route.

When progress stalls, write down the current objective text and the last step completed. Then compare the objectives guide and raids guide before changing every part or weapon at once.

Build your first RIG in layers

Use this order for a first setup:

  1. Read Stats so Load Limit, Weapon Capacity, Dash Power and targeting fields make sense.
  2. Read the installed permanent RIG parts.
  3. Pick a weapon role that solves the current fight.
  4. Add a Volatile Mod only after reading its current effect text.
  5. Save or select the loadout and confirm the same pieces are still equipped.
  6. Recheck the setup after a dated update changes parts, weapons, movement or interface behavior.

That order is more reliable than copying a named build from an older demo version. The site does not publish build rankings, weapon rankings or a complete part database until named items, effects, version and source can be checked together.

Early mistakes to avoid

  • Treating the first stage as the full game's total scope.
  • Using the demo's six advertised part sets as the final part count.
  • Calling a visual effect a numerical bonus without effect text.
  • Changing parts, weapons, mods and controls at the same time after a failed run.
  • Applying a pre-September 8 clip without checking whether the Build Parity patch changed the behavior.

Where to go next

Open Stats when the garage numbers are unclear. Use Demo when the question is what the free version includes. Use Movement when the RIG is hard to control. Use Builds for the full parts-to-loadout sequence, then move to Parts, Weapons and Volatile Mods when you need one layer explained. Use FAQ for quick answers and Troubleshooting when the issue is a reproducible symptom.
